From her Makawao studio, artist, Deb Painchaud (De Pa Art Works) has created her latest line of wearable art. Deb began sewing in the 70’s for exclusive boutiques in the Portland, Oregon area. By 1980 she had her own company designing swimwear and swimwear fabric. In the 1990’s she learned to dye, spin and weave yarns for her personal pleasure. She has always designed her own clothes and now she is designing this unique line of clothing and wearable art for the discriminating person. Her love of beauty and affection for color and texture is reflected in each piece.





Deb paints a design then stitches the piece into resist areas. This is the bodice for dress GD701. The piece was painted with gold gutta then a clear resist was applied prior to dying. The pieces (top and bottom) were assembled after dying then the details were added at the end. Each garment is steam set and washed prior to being offered to the public....most pieces can be washed by hand with gentle soap, but most prefer to dry clean. Mahalo ...
